InfoFlex Modules

Query Design Manager

The Query Design Manager module provides the means for non SQL experts to design both simple and complex queries that can then be applied to Data Entry, Reporting and Analysis. The Query Design Manager breaks queries down into simple steps of defining a view (what the user wants to see) and a filter (who the user wants to include) and a query (combining a view and a filter with linking and joining parameters). These views and filters are linked together to define queries that can be run in various InfoFlex modules.

Queries are used to extract data in the Data Analysis module, Reporting module and the Extract Add-In. Queries are used to retrieve groups of patients in the Data Entry and Work List modules.  Queries are also used in the configuration of the Bed Manager and Scheduler modules.

Module Features

Views
Views can include any combination of the data items present in the design. Advanced views can include aggregated values, calculations, expressions, and fixed values
Filters
Filters can be based on any of the data items present in the design. Single or multiple criteria can be defined. Advanced filters can include functions, comparisons and subfilters. Prompt filters can be defined to prompt the user for parameters when the query is run.
Queries
Views and filters are linked together to form queries. Parameters such as links, joins and context can be set.
Publishing Queries, Views and Filters
Views, filters and queries can be saved against a users profile or published for use by a group of users or all users.
Run-Time Parameters
Queries that include prompt filters prompt the user for parameters at run-time. This allows generic filters and queries to be defined that are variable at run-time.
Filters for Patient Searching
Filters (including prompt filters) can be used for patient searching in Data Entry. This allows specific groups of patients, such as Today's Clinic List, to be retrieved for data entry.
Queries in Reports
Complex reports can be defined that use both standard and nested queries. These are used to produce complex reports, such as Korner Returns, to produce patient lists meeting the filter criteria.
Queries in Data Analysis
In Data Analysis, queries can be created "dynamically" by selecting any view and filter. This provides the user with an ad-hoc mechanism to retrieve subsets of data for further analysis. Pre-defined queries can also be run in Data Analysis.
Data Extracts
Query results can be sent directly to a flat file extract with a user defined layout format. This is used for the production of national returns such as the Cancer Waiting Times extract and the Cardiology MINAP extract.
Queries in Work Lists
Queries control the patients who are listed in the Work List module.
