InfoFlex Modules

Data Import Wizard

The Data Import Wizard module validates and imports data from external sources into InfoFlex Data Domains and Dictionaries. It is used primarily to import data from legacy systems that are being replaced by InfoFlex.

The Data Import Wizard guides the user through the following tasks:

  • Describing where to find the data and which InfoFlex database to import into
  • Describing the format of the file
  • Choosing the InfoFlex events that the data is going into
  • Mapping the columns in the data file to InfoFlex Data Items
  • Choosing the study to import into
  • Performing the import
  • Investigating errors in the import.

Module Features

Defining the Import
The Data Import wizard guides the user through the steps required to define the structure of the data to be imported. This includes defining the file format, delimiters and mapping each data element to be imported to an equivalent InfoFlex Data Item. Data can be manipulated and transformed as it is prepared by the Data Import Wizard for import.
Import Modes
Data can be imported in various modes: as new events to be added to the InfoFlex system, as modifications to existing events or as replacements for existing events.
Importing the Data
The Data Importing process automatically validates all data elements to ensure data quality. Records with errors are normally automatically rejected. The user, however, can opt to accept records with non-critical errors, only rejecting the individual data elements that generate the error.
Error Reports
A log file is automatically kept of the import process. This includes all errors found and rejected records.
